Research Experience

  • Masters project investigated the relationship between life span and reproductive ability (in beetles, lots and lots of beetles)
  • I worked at the Primate Center in Beaverton for a summer researching diabetes in monkeys. (cell receptors and insulin binding)
  • Two summers at Reed College in a plant physiology lab. (enzymes involved in hydrogen peroxide and oxygen scavenging)
  • Currently involved in marine invertebrate surveys of the Southern Oregon Coast (a great excuse to go out tide-pooling at any opportunity)


Other interests and Activities:

  • Marine Mammals Stranding Network.
  • Birds: migratory birds and oystercatchers!
  • Reading! I love reading classics, science fiction, mysteries, and modern fiction.
  • Movies, plays and art (last play seen; Billy Elliot in London, fabulous)
  • Travel: most recent trip to England: wonderful museums
